About Laura Baruel
Laura Baruël (born 1975) is an interdisciplinary textile artist with an experimental practice situated between design, art, and scenography. She holds a degree from the Danish Design School in Copenhagen and a bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of Copenhagen.
Her work explores the relationship between humans and nature, driven by a deep curiosity about the living world and our place within it.
Working through a material-based and process-oriented approach, she creates works ranging from unique objects and exhibition projects to textile-based design and costumes for film and theatre.
Alongside her artistic practice, Laura Baruël teaches and has been affiliated with institutions such as Tekstilskolen Holte, the Royal Danish Academy – Design, Margrethe-Skolen, and Krabbesholm Højskole as both lecturer and external examiner.
Her works have been exhibited widely in Denmark and internationally – including at Designmuseum Danmark, Maison & Objet in Paris, and the Natural History Museum of Denmark.
